Thank you for the Latin lesson, in Italian schools Latin is a requirement but I never studied it because I grew up in the States. My daughter took it in university and it was DIFFICULT! Knowing the Italian language didn't help at all because the words and conjugation are so different.

My mom just wanted me to start latin because she thought it was a cool language.
My dad didn't like because he wanted me to take spanish lessons
You can do both--Spanish has as much Latin as Italian, and so does Portagese. Plus, you can get LOTS of Spanish practice nearby
